Not one to be satisfied with a small event, real estate guru and dedicated philanthropist Avi Oster parlayed Father’s Day into a week long celebration of family patriarchs that featured an array of activities and events focused on family. Oster worked alongside Real Dads Network executive director Derek Philips to ensure that no good father went unrecognized for his hard work in raising a family.
The week saw events scattered across the greater New York City area and featured a great deal of opportunities for positive networking, relationship mentoring, and fun activities to bring fathers closer to their children. The Real Dad’s Network offers these kinds of events throughout the year, but concentrates on Father’s Week to bring visibility to its programs and overall message.
Oster was inspired to become a part of the event due to his own father who he credits for many of the successes and lessons he has enjoyed in his life. “I am proud to honor [my father’s] legacy in joining RDN and 4th annual celebration of Father’s Week,” Oster said. His own family has a long history of contributing to philanthropic causes and promoting awareness of social issues.
The main event of the week-long celebration was an awards dinner that bestowed a $1,000 college scholarship to a worthy young candidate. Fathers from various communities were also commended and applauded for their dedication to providing for a family and creating a positive environment that allows their own children to one day achieve success based on the examples set for them.
